More Fine Dining in Port Orange?

Creative Florida Living is bringing you another “hidden treasure” in the Greater Daytona Beach Area. Though we don’t have the conveniences and availabilities of big city living, we do have our own gems here – in fact, quite a few.

Owner-run restaurants usually offer unique dishes, often with local flair. Adam’s Kitchen is no exception. Read on to find out what culinary treasures you can find in Port Orange!

Adam Steinman has been the executive chef for many prestigious events and upscale restaurants in different parts of the US. He has taken his years of experience with various cuisines and opened up Adam’s Kitchen where he can showcase his culinary style in a friendly upscale atmosphere with an assortment of dishes ranging from his style of comfort food to fresh seafood, ribs and steaks.

For breakfast you can enjoy the classic Eggs Benedict, Southern chicken and waffles, burritos, and all other favorite breakfast foods and very reasonable prices.

Lunch serves up Angus beef burgers, very interesting sandwiches and salads, as well as soup and chile.

This is a restaurant for people who really love food, and who want to try different things. Therefore the menu changes every week for dinner.

In the evening, Chef Adam brings out the big guns with unique and elegant fare. Start off with tuna guacamole or fresh corn cakes. Move on to Boursin and praline crusted half rack of lamb (OMG!), panko and chili lime crusted silk snapper filet, or other mouthwatering entrees. Wrap up the meal with limoncello mascarpone torte or other equally delicious sweet delights.

And yes, this is in Port Orange, on Nova Road. Visit the website to find out more!

TripAdvisor places Adam’s Kitchen at #11 of 146 restaurants in Port Orange. You can read reviews  HERE

Fine Dining in Port Orange?

If you’ve been following along with the news and blogs from Creative Florida Living, you may know that we like to eke out the “hidden treasures” of the Greater Daytona Beach Area. The next big city is Orlando (or Jacksonville), so sometimes we don’t have the variety and availability of big city life here. However, we do have our own gems  – in fact, quite a few.

We have explored a lot of on-the-water dining options, and there is certainly no lack of restaurants in our coastal area, but today we will explore some fine dining options!

Peppercorns Café
Where Food Becomes Art

At this owner-run restaurant you will be served dishes that are not only well-crafted but also beautiful. Using the finest ingredients, Peppercorns offers a menu of high-class food that is very accessible (not the foam and micro-gastronomy cuisine that nobody wants to eat, really).

Starting with brunch, the restaurant serves up eggs Benedict, frittatas, and omelets. But there are also shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, and other delicacies.
At lunch you can order traditional sandwiches, panini, wraps, and burgers. For dinner try their exquisite salads, Cajun entrees, steaks, chops, fresh fish, Italian specialties, and chicken dishes.

On the first Monday of every month, you can experience a special night with the Iron Skillet Club, which presents a 5-course meal with wine pairings for one price. Reservations for that night is highly recommended due to popularity!

The restaurant is located on Commonwealth Boulevard, right off of Ridgewood Avenue in Port Orange. They are open Tuesday-Sunday for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Prices are in the $$ range and well worth it. Via TripAdvisor,  Peppercorns Café is #12 on the list of 146 Port Orange Restaurants. Go check it out for yourself and let us know what you think!

The Casements in Ormond Beach

Things to do in the summer
In the spirit of finding fun, (mostly free) indoor events to escape the Florida heat!

To visit the Casements, we are venturing a little bit north to Ormond Beach. Whether you are relocating to coastal central Florida, already live here part of the year, all of the year, or are just visiting, Ormond offers fantastic options for dining and shopping, as well as miles of our famous beaches.

The Casements, named for the large hand-cut casement windows that adorn the mansion, has been beautifully restored to function as the Cultural Center for the City of Ormond Beach. Set on the shore of the Halifax River, and just two blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, the late John D. Rockefeller's winter home is known as "The Jewel of Ormond Beach."

The Casements welcomes visitors Monday through Friday from 1-4 pm, and Saturday from 10:00am to 12pm. Tours are conducted on the hour. Come learn about the history of the mansion and grounds for free! Visit special displays including Boy Scouts of America historical memorabilia and a collection of Hungarian festival costumes and artifacts. The Casements also hosts numerous events throughout the year, including monthly movies under the stars, cooking classes, festivals, and more.

Monthly Gallery Exhibits:

Each month the Casements’ Gallery displays various local artists and photographers. The exhibits open with a free public reception on the First Friday of every month from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Please call The Casements (386) 676-3216 for information.
